Texaco Fuel Center

Texaco Fuel Center

The Owner of this project was a retired vice president of marketing for a large oil company who owned another large fuel center. After he acquired the property, we spent the best part of a year visiting other facilities, analyzing the components and layout of the project. The site was the first exit off the interstate coming into town. The project site included an area for a restaurant. The building is a concrete block and steel frame roof of about 9,200 square feet. It has a convenience store and a car wash.

I was retained for design and periodical site visits to verify that construction was consistent with the contract documents. The project was constructed in the time allocated and within the budget.

The project opened on a cold overcast December day without a grand opening. The Owner told me in the following April that the project made its one year income goal in March. Needless to say the Owner was happy. I was told later that Texaco was so impressed they replicated the project in another town.
